Senior Project Manager

Carl Friis

About me

Carl Friis brings more than 35 years of construction and development experience to Medical Construction Group and RMS Project Management (RMSPM). His career spans residential, commercial, mixed-use, and highly technical project types, and he is respected for steady leadership, practical judgment, and consistent follow-through.

Based in RMSPM’s San Francisco office, Carl leads the firm’s Northwest operations, supporting projects throughout Northern California, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. His portfolio includes single-family homes and remodels, multi-family communities, auto dealerships, retail centers, mixed-use developments, and specialized laboratory renovations—experience that enables him to adapt project strategy to different delivery methods, stakeholder needs, and site conditions while maintaining strong controls on risk, schedule, and cost.

Before joining RMSPM, Carl served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Midtown Builders, where he oversaw enterprise-level operations and directed complex development initiatives. Earlier, he spent more than two decades as an owner-operator of a general contracting firm in the greater Seattle area. That hands-on foundation continues to shape his approach: identify issues early, evaluate risk before it impacts performance, and collaborate closely with designers, contractors, and trade partners to drive efficient, constructible solutions.

Most recently, Carl helped lead the successful completion of a $95 million student housing development adjacent to the University of Washington campus, where RMSPM served as Owner’s Representative for a Texas-based ownership group. His leadership was instrumental in maintaining alignment and driving a strong closeout. Carl delivers senior-level oversight and calm coordination from early planning through turnover—providing owners with informed guidance and dependable execution at every phase.
